Three-hour wildlife session for children in P3-7 to meet the animals, play themed games and learn about conservation at Edinburgh Zoo.
Winter Explorers runs at Edinburgh Zoo on Tuesday 29 December, from 10am to 1pm. It's a three-hour session for children in P3 to P7, part of the zoo's school holiday programme, and it's designed to introduce them to the world of zoos and conservation through an active morning. Rather than just watching from the side, the kids get stuck in: they'll meet the animals, play themed games and take part in a range of activities while exploring the site in the heart of Corstorphine.
The zoo itself sits on 82 acres of sloping parkland about three miles west of the city centre, and it's run by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, a registered charity. It's home to more than 2,500 animals, with over 1,000 of them rare and endangered, and the society supports active conservation work targeting 50 endangered animal populations across the globe. Beyond the holiday sessions, the zoo runs a busy programme of keeper talks, hands-on animal encounters, behind-the-scenes tours and seasonal events like the Giant Lanterns trail.

If the 29th doesn't work, the programme also runs on 30 and 31 December, so you've got a few days to choose from. Each session is three hours long, and tickets are £22. You'll find the zoo at 134 Corstorphine Road, Edinburgh West EH12 6TS.
