Harmonica and melodeon master Will Pound with guitarist Jenn Butterworth at the Traverse Theatre, playing high-energy folk tunes.
Will Pound and Jenn Butterworth play the Traverse Theatre on Monday 19 October, an evening of harmonica, melodeon, and guitar. The two met by chance at a folk session back in 2018, and their music subsequently became a viral internet sensation, with a good deal of their following coming from the clips they've shared online. On stage, they describe what they do as a game of 'musical cat and mouse', improvising and responding to one another as they go.
Pound is a harmonica and melodeon player who's pushed the boundaries of both instruments, and Butterworth is one of the UK's most notable folk guitarists: she was named 'Musician of the Year' at the Scots Trad Music Awards, received a nomination for the same title at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, and regularly performs alongside folk powerhouses such as Kinnaris Quintet, Ross Ainslie & Ali Hutton, and Treacherous Orchestra. Together they share an eclectic mix of high-energy tunes and uplifting songs.
