Veeno is running its Italian food and wine pairing experience in Edinburgh on Thursday 29 October, though it's something you can book any day from Sunday to Friday throughout the year. It's called I Quattro Rossi, and it's built for two people, so it's a date night or a proper catch-up with a friend rather than a solo thing. The whole session takes about an hour, which is just enough time to work your way through the wine without it becoming a marathon.
The wine is the main event: four different bottles from four different regions of Italy. You don't just drink them, either. Each one comes with a self-guided tasting sheet, so you can actually follow along and see how the regions differ rather than just guessing. To go with them is a sharing board of bruschette filled with meats and cheeses, and if you're vegetarian, they'll swap that out for you on request. It's a slow-paced way to spend an hour, and because it's a sharing board, it's meant to be a conversation as much as a tasting.
