SJM Performance Academy's Saturday school brings to the stage a reworked production of Treasure Island, with pirates, mermaids and a search for Captain Flint's treasure.
SJM Performance Academy's Saturday school are taking Treasure Island to Summerhall on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November. It's their Saturday school production, so it's a young cast bringing a reworked version of the story to the stage. The show runs for 135 minutes, and they're playing it in TechCube 0, over in the EH9 1PL part of the venue.
The plot follows Jimmy McHawkins, who finds himself aboard the Saltire Ship with Dr McDonald and Squire McTrier. Captain Amanda steers the vessel, and Mary Motivator keeps everyone in order. From there, the crew sets sail for France and the Island of I.W. in search of Captain Flint's treasure, with pirates and mermaids appearing along the way. It's a reworked take on the classic, and the academy describes it as a hilarious production. The whole thing is performed by the academy's Saturday school, and it's part of the venue's broader Treasure Island event series.
