London post-punk outfit The Sick Man Of Europe play Sneaky Pete's in Edinburgh on their 2026 UK tour.
The Sick Man Of Europe play Sneaky Pete's on Tuesday 1 December, part of their 2026 UK tour. They're a London-based underground post-punk outfit, and the Edinburgh date is one of several they're playing across the country this year.
Their sound is built around a cold-wave aesthetic: motorik drum machines driving languid basslines and pulsing sequencers, with sharp post-punk guitars and minimalist electronics. The vocals sit somewhere between Ian Curtis' melancholic baritone and something more experimental. They balance dark, repetitive structures with lyrics about alienation and social uncertainty, and they describe their work as drawing on European art-rock pioneers of the late 1970s and early 1980s — names like Bauhaus, Joy Division, Neu!, Suicide and Swans — re-tooled for the present.
They've got two albums behind them now. Their debut on The Leaf Label was cited as one of 2025's most uncompromising and vital underground records, and their second, The Intermittent Signal, arrived in September 2026, so this tour is their first outing since that one came out. The name itself is a diplomatic slur first coined in 1833 to describe the Ottoman Empire, and more recently applied to post-Brexit Britain.
