Weekly Saturday mixed-bill stand-up show at The Stand Comedy Club, with a different line-up on each Saturday.
The Early Saturday Show is back at The Stand Comedy Club on Saturday 5 December, one of a series of Saturday afternoons they're running from 24 October 2026 through to 30 January 2027. It's a mixed-bill night, which means you get a few different comics on one ticket rather than a single name carrying the whole thing. The line-up changes from date to date, so if you've been before, it's a different set of faces each time.
To give you a sense of how it shifts, the 24 October show featured Kate Hammer, Billy Kirkwood and Travis Jay. On 31 October, Susan Morrison hosted Marjolein Robertson and headliner Rosco McClelland. By 28 November, Bruce Devlin was hosting Kim Blythe and headliner Keith Farnan. The line-ups are subject to change, so it's worth checking the latest before you head in.
The Stand itself has been around since 1995 and now runs three purpose-built venues across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle. It started as a hobby by a group of enthusiasts and grew into a commercial company without losing its commitment to developing new Scottish comedy. The Edinburgh programme ranges from Red Raw beginners' nights, widely regarded as the best open mic in the UK, to improvised comedy, sketch shows, the all-female Wicked Wenches, and Irish and Scottish showcases, alongside solo shows from better-known performers and prime stand-up every weekend. Performers and critics alike rate the clubs among the best comedy venues in the world, and just over 100,000 people walked through the doors last year.
