Monthly, dementia-friendly jam session at the Festival Theatre where anyone can bring an instrument, a singing voice or a song suggestion.
Tea and 'Jam' returns to the Festival Theatre on Monday 26 October, the first in a run that continues every Monday until 30 November. It's the theatre's monthly, dementia-friendly celebration of music-making and talent sharing, and the whole thing is built around the people who turn up.
Rather than a performance to watch, it's a session to join in with. Everyone coming along is invited to bring their own instrument, their singing voice, or a song suggestion, and throw it into an energetic jam session that kicks off the afternoon. The whole thing runs for about 90 minutes, so it's a good length for a morning out without taking up the entire day. If you've got a favourite tune you've been wanting to hear or a song you still love to sing, that's exactly what this is for.
It sits alongside the theatre's wider programme of dementia-friendly social events, so there's plenty more to choose from if you fancy keeping the momentum going. There's Journeys Through Rhyme, Together In Song with the Forget Me Notes choir, Brew and Blether, Comfy Ceilidh, and Relaxing Rhymes. The front-of-house staff undergo disability awareness and Dementia Friend training, and there's limited accessible parking available on site.
