A Halloween night of music and storytelling about the Scottish Witch Trials, with the Macarbaret and Stand Up Horror, at Captains Bar.
Tales From The Witches Sabbath returns to Captains Bar on Friday 30 October, a few days before Halloween. It's a combination of music and storytelling that works its way through the Scottish Witch Trials, with John Tantalon, Joss Cameron and Amy Dudley taking the lead. The show is part of the North Edinburgh Nightmares festival, and it's back at Captains Bar after running there over the last few years.
That's not the only thing on the bill. The night also takes in the Macarbaret, which is billed as a madcap hour of drag, burlesque, music, comedy and medical mayhem presented by Dr Bonk, who goes by the name of Scotland's silliest surgeon. Alongside that is Stand Up Horror, where actor, writer and tour guide Alex Staniforth invents a new horror story every night, so you'll hear something different depending on when you go.
Between the three, it's a full evening of local artists rather than a single act. The main feature weaves music and stories around the trials, the Macarbaret brings the drag and burlesque, and Stand Up Horror adds a fresh story to the mix. It's a Hallows Eve show, so the whole thing sits right in the run-up to the 31st.
