Full-day workshop led by Leith Jewellery Studios to design and craft your own textured silver spinner ring.
Leith Jewellery Studios are running a spinner ring workshop at Out Of The Blue Drill Hall on Saturday 31 October, starting at 10:30. It's a full-day session, so you'll be there for a good stretch of the day, and you'll leave with a finished piece of jewellery you've made yourself.
The thing you're making is a spinner ring, also known as a worry or fidget ring. The basic idea is a wide silver band that you hammer or roll into shape, with one or two thinner bands added on top that glide smoothly around the base. You get to decide on the texture, and by the end of the day, you'll have a fully formed, polished ring of your own making. It's a proper hands-on day, and you don't need to have worked with metal before to take part.
The session is held at Out Of The Blue Drill Hall, 36 Dalmeny Street in Leith, which is the hub of Out of the Blue. They're an independent cultural social enterprise and one of Scotland's leading community, cultural and arts development organisations. Their whole mission is to give artists and others who face barriers to creativity a place to meet, work, participate, learn and develop skills, and then pass them on to the local community. The Trust also supports The Bongo Club and Out of the Blue Productions, and their programme runs from workshops and exhibitions to markets and events.
