Weekly Tuesday stand-up night with five professional comedians trying out new material, named Scotland's award-winning night out by Chortle.
Spandex Comedy is back at Dragonfly on Tuesday 20 October, part of its regular Tuesday night run in Edinburgh. It's a five-act bill: five professional comedians on one night, all of them trying out new material. The whole thing runs for the price of a pint, so it's as much about seeing work in progress as it is about the finished product.
The line-up changes every week, and it pulls from both ends of the circuit. You'll find names from Netflix and Live At The Apollo alongside some of Scotland's top acts, with a headline act and one up-and-coming comedian each week, plus a host whom reviewers call Ralph. Because the material is new, you're seeing it before it's polished for a tour or a special.
One thing that sets it apart from a lot of the comedy around here is how it's built for an international crowd. The comedians come from all over the world, and the material avoids the kind of Scottish references that can leave people from elsewhere feeling left out. It's a room with a capacity of around 40, so it stays small and close-up rather than filling a big hall. The night is strictly for ages 18 and over.

It's got a bit of a track record behind it, too: Chortle named it Scotland's award-winning night out in 2023, and it holds five stars on TripAdvisor and Google Reviews. If you're in the city on a Tuesday, it's an easy one to slot in.
Doors open at 7:45pm and the show starts at 8:15pm at Dragonfly, 52 West Port, Edinburgh EH1 2LD. Tickets are £6 plus booking fee.
