Acclaimed Scottish singer-songwriter Jake Cogan returns for a special performance as part of the Soundhouse Winter Festival, joined by a full backing band.
Jake Cogan returns to the stage at Traverse Theatre on Saturday 28 November, her first live appearance after a long break from performing. She'll be joined by a full backing band, and the night is part of the third Soundhouse Winter Festival, run by the Soundhouse Organisation. They took over the production of Edinburgh Tradfest in 2019 and now book headliners like Heidi Talbot and Boo Hewerdine.
Cogan is an Edinburgh-based singer-songwriter whose work bridges tradition and contemporary voice. Her debut album and two subsequent records earned her national radio play and major press features across the UK. Parcel of Rogues, her reimagining of the songs of Robert Burns, was named BBC Radio 2 Folk Show's Album of the Week. This performance marks the start of a new musical collaboration, and the set draws from across her career alongside an exclusive first glimpse of songs from her forthcoming third studio album. That record turns to traditional Irish songs interpreted through her Scottish lens, with memory, migration and cultural inheritance running through it.
