International songwriter Cera Impala plays Traverse 1 with material from her new album 'Persephone' at the Soundhouse Winter Festival.
Cera Impala is back at the Traverse Theatre on Sunday 29 November, performing material from her new album, Persephone. She's an international songwriter and a prolific one, and this is her return to the Edinburgh stage.
Her set is part of the Soundhouse Winter Festival, which is now in its third year. The festival takes over the Traverse over the St Andrew's Day and Fair Saturday weekend, and it's put on by the Soundhouse Organisation, a charitable body that's been promoting independent music in Edinburgh since 2014. They launched the Winter Festival in 2024, and it grew out of a 2023 Fringe run at the Rose Theatre by guitarist Haftor Medbøe and saxophonist Konrad Wiszniewski. The whole thing is supported by The National Lottery through Creative Scotland.
Impala is billed as an international artist, and her night is one of several the festival brings to the Traverse Bar. The wider series returns Soundhouse's live, in-person gigs to that intimate space, with a programme that pulls from jazz, country, traditional and folk. Beyond the concerts, there's a spotlight show showcasing new jazz talent, a jazz singing workshop, and a session on street band techniques.
