Sherry tasting masterclass led by the Edinburgh Local Wine School's resident Sherry Educator, Carrie, with seven sherries and Spanish nibbles, part of International Sherry Week.
The Edinburgh Local Wine School is running a Sherry Masterclass at the Novotel Edinburgh Centre on Thursday 5 November, from 7:00pm. It's a two-hour session led by their resident Sherry Educator, Carrie, and it sits within International Sherry Week, a festival of Sherry running across the city from 2 to 8 November.
The evening is part of the school's 'Enjoy' series — food and wine pairing nights and 'just for fun' tastings aimed at hedonists, with no previous experience required. The whole point is to find a Sherry for everyone, and you'll taste through at least seven wines: Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Oloroso, Palo Cortado, Pedro Ximénez, and a sweetened Sherry. They're served with Spanish nibbles, and you'll get full tasting notes, a tasting sheet, and professional tasting glasses to work with.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Edinburgh and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

It doesn't shy away from the category's mixed reputation or those infamous blue bottles, and it makes the case that Sherry is more than the dusty bottle brought out at Christmas or something that only belongs at the back of a granny's cupboard. The session is now sold out, so you'll have to keep an eye on the school's future dates if you missed this one. It runs at the Novotel Edinburgh Centre, 80 Lauriston Place, EH3 9DE, for £55.
