Trio bringing together English, Irish and European traditional music with fresh arrangements at the Traverse Theatre.
Shaer, Moss, Warnock play the Traverse Theatre on Sunday 8 November, bringing their UK tour to Edinburgh for one night. The trio is made up of Toby Shaer, Archie Moss and Jack Warnock, three folk musicians who've each spent years working their own way through the scene. Together they pull from English, Irish and European traditional music, and they describe the set as traditional songs reimagined with fresh arrangements, powerful musicianship and heartfelt song.
That's the core of what they do: taking traditional material and reworking it. The three traditions they draw on — English, Irish and European — don't always sit in the same room, but they're the three that run through the set. The arrangements are their own, and the singing is a big part of it, so it's as much about the songs as the playing.
They're seasoned, award-winning folk masters, and this is a touring show, so it's a set they've been taking around the UK. The Traverse is one of the stops on that run, and it's a Sunday night, which fits the kind of music they're playing.
