Multi-award winning fiddle player Ryan Young brings his distinctive tone and phrasing to the Traverse Theatre, joined by guitarist Louis Campbell.
Ryan Young plays the Traverse Theatre on Monday 23 November, with guitarist Louis Campbell joining him on stage. Young is a Scottish fiddle player working within the traditional music of Scotland, known for a tone and phrasing that put melody and expression at the centre. He first came to wider attention with a debut album produced by four-time GRAMMY winner Jesse Lewis, and has since toured the UK, Europe, North America and Australia, drawing on both Scottish and Irish traditions.
He's a multi-award-winning artist with a first-class honours and a Masters degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He was twice a finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards and twice a finalist in the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year, and was named 'Up and Coming Artist of the Year' at the Scots Trad Awards. His second album, Just a Second (2023), was widely praised, and his third, produced by and featuring Martin Hayes, marks a significant new chapter. The Scotsman called him 'a force of nature'.
