Rosie Holt brings her sci-fi satirical stand-up show, with her MP alter-ego, to The Stand Comedy Club.
Rosie Holt returns to The Stand Comedy Club on Wednesday 3 February with The Illegal Aliens Have Landed!, a sci-fi streaked satire that sees her joined on stage by her MP alter-ego. The two team up to take on their biggest foe yet, and it's recommended for audiences aged 18 and over.
Holt first made a name for herself during the 2020 lockdowns, when her satirical videos lampooning the political landscape went viral. This show carries that same political thread into a sci-fi setting, with Holt and her MP counterpart sharing the stage. It's a bit of a departure from the short-form videos that put her on the map, though the target remains the same.
The venue is The Stand, at 5 York Place in Edinburgh New Town. It's one of the city's established comedy rooms, part of a group that's been running since 1995 across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle. It started as a hobby and grew into a commercial company while keeping its focus on developing new Scottish comedy; its Red Raw night is billed as the best open mic in the UK, and more than 100,000 people attended its clubs last year.
