Ray O'Leary, star of Taskmaster NZ, returns to The Stand Comedy Club with his signature deadpan wit.
Ray O'Leary is back at The Stand Comedy Club on Tuesday 23 February 2027, with his new show I Can See O'Leary Now The Ray Has Gone. He's a New Zealand comic who's spent the last couple of years becoming a regular fixture of the Edinburgh Fringe, where his 2024 and 2025 runs both sold out.
If you've seen him before, you'll know the bit: he takes the stage in his signature grey suit and delivers everything with a deadpan wit so dry it practically rattles. It's a style he's built his reputation on, and this show keeps it front and centre. He's also a star of Taskmaster NZ and was nominated for Best Show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, so he's well-travelled and knows how to hold a room.
There's a particular kind of humour to his persona that goes beyond the delivery. His satirical bio claims he was the leader of North Korea from 1994 until his untimely death in 2011, and that same streak of absurdity runs through the work. The critics have been on board, too: The Skinny called him 'a jokesmith of the highest order' and Chortle described him as 'a very strong comic indeed'.
