Christine Bovill reimagines her Piaf show and launches the live album recorded from it at the Institut français d'Écosse.
Christine Bovill is performing at the Institut français d'Écosse on Thursday 5 November, with the concert starting at 19:00. It's a reimagining of her show Piaf, a theatrical journey through Edith Piaf's iconic repertoire that first premiered at the Famous Spiegeltent. BroadwayBaby.com described it as "the stuff of Fringe legend", and Bovill is regarded as one of Europe's finest interpreters of French song.
One of those performances was recorded live and released as a new album, which Bovill officially launches at the Institut. The night forms part of the 80 Years of the Institut français d'Écosse programme, a week of events marking eight decades of the cultural centre. The Institut has promoted French language and culture in Scotland since 1946 through courses, talks, live music and theatre, film screenings, library collections and festivals. This concert is one of the highlights of that anniversary week.
