Live night with Parviz, on the second leg of his Khorshid Khanoom Tour, and Wiffeney at Sneaky Pete's in Edinburgh.
Parviz and Wiffeney share the bill at Sneaky Pete's on Tuesday 17 November, a night put on by Sneaks Events. Parviz is back in the UK for the second leg of the Khorshid Khanoom Tour, following five sold-out shows earlier this year.
His self-titled debut album is due in 2026 and draws on the spirit of Iran's pre-revolutionary 1970s music scene. The lead single, 'Azadeh' — a female name meaning 'free spirit' and 'independence' — nods to the 'Woman Life Freedom' movement and the recent mass uprisings in Iran, with artwork by Rana Fadavi. The follow-up, 'Sappho's Fragments', aired on BBC Radio 6 and has gathered more than half a million streams. This is one of the dates on the second leg of the tour, which comes after those five sold-out shows earlier in the year.
Wiffeney is the brainchild of two best friends: Grammy-nominated drummer and producer Jai D, who has worked with Jay Z, Tyler The Creator and Haelos, and animator Steph Hope, known for FX Networks and Haruomi Hosono. They describe their sound as soulful vocals paired with infectious rhythms, sprawling guitars and gloopy synths, backed by their trademark psychedelic visuals. It's a duo that brings together a background in high-profile production and animation, with the visuals as much a part of the act as the music.
