Paint and wine evening for over-18s to create your own painting inspired by 'Bullfinches' by Allen William Seaby, led by tutor Helen Jackson.
Birchwood Art Studio is hosting another Paint & Wine evening on Saturday 12 December, from 18:30 to 21:00. This one is led by Helen Jackson, and the painting you'll be working from is Bullfinches by Allen William Seaby. It's part of the studio's regular series, and the whole point is to spend the evening creating your own version of the piece.
If you've never been, Birchwood is in Craiglockhart, at Ashley House, 1F Ashley Terrace, Edinburgh South EH11 1RF. It was started back in 2020 by two friends, Clare and Sam, who wanted 'one last hoolie' before they crumbled. Clare has since retired, leaving Sam and the office team — Beth, Beata and Raphie — along with a studio full of experienced, good-humoured artist tutors to keep things going. Their mission is to convince the world, or at least south Edinburgh, that anyone can draw, paint and make. The studio takes its name from Sam's childhood home, the cottage of illustrator Jim Proudfoot, whose work you can find in their shop.

That's the kind of place this evening fits into. It's for over-18s, and you don't need any previous art experience to join in. The session runs from 18:30 to 21:00, so it's a proper evening in. Places are limited to 12 people, which keeps it small and manageable rather than a crowded room. Tickets are £48.
