New script reading of Marion Geoffray's darkly comic monologue 'Out of Office Hours', exploring burnout and paranoia, at the Offspring festival.
Marion Geoffray brings Out of Office Hours to Summerhall on Saturday 14 November, as part of the Offspring festival. It's a darkly comic monologue that looks at burnout and paranoia, and it's being staged here as a new script reading, so you're hearing it in a relatively early form.
Offspring is the first of two annual festivals curated by Kolbrún Björt Sigfúsdóttir, who goes by Kol. This autumn edition is called Their Dark Materials and runs over two days in November, with three new plays, a scratch event, and networking sessions. Out of Office Hours is one of those new plays, and the script reading format means the focus stays on the writing and the performance rather than a fully realised production.
Geoffray takes the lead on this one, and the description of the piece — burnout and paranoia played for dark comedy — should give you a good sense of the territory it covers. It's a monologue, so it's just her on stage, and as a script reading, it's a bit like being in the room while a new play is still finding its feet.

It runs from 6:30 pm to 7:40 pm in TechCube 0 at Summerhall, EH9 1PL. Tickets are part of a bundle: two Offspring shows for £15, or four for £25, plus booking fees, so it's worth looking at the rest of the festival programme if you're planning to see more than one.
