A selection of classic songs performed by local musicians at the late-night venue SlĂ inte Mhath in Edinburgh Old Town.
SlĂ inte Mhath has live music every Thursday night in the Old Town, with local musicians playing a selection of classic songs. It's a regular fixture rather than a one-off, so if you're around on a Thursday, there's always something to get you through to the weekend. The next one is on Thursday 22 October, part of a run that's been going since 8 October 2026 and will keep running until 8 September 2027.
SlĂ inte Mhath is a modern Scottish late bar at 143 Cowgate, right in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town, serving craft drinks and cocktails. The name is the traditional Scottish Gaelic toast for 'good health', and the motto 'Ceol, Craic, Chaos' â music, good times and chaos â is what they run to. The live music is their Thursday night offering, and the organisers describe it as a chance to wind your evening away with Venoms, pints and cocktails.
It's not the only thing they do, either. The bar also programmes karaoke sessions, Friday and Saturday 'Cheese Pop & Charts' nights from the resident DJ, 'Hair Of The Dog' hangover-cure sessions, and weekly quiz nights run by Goose's Quizzes. So if you're in for the music on a Thursday, there's plenty more to pick from throughout the rest of the week.
