Wednesday evening language-exchange meetup at BrewDog Lothian Road, where members of the Edinburgh Language Exchange Communities practice different languages.
The Edinburgh Language Exchange Communities (ELEC) are back at BrewDog Edinburgh Lothian Road on Wednesday 21 October, from 19:00. It's one of their regular all-languages pub meetups, the kind of thing they run every Wednesday evening. The whole point is to bring people together to swap experiences and knowledge about languages, travel and culture through friendly, language-focused mini-meetups. It's open to everyone, regardless of your level of language experience, and the group operates under a Code of Conduct.
The session is self-organising, so there's no set programme to follow. You just turn up, ask the bar staff for the Language Exchange group, introduce yourself, and say which languages you speak and which ones you'd like to practise. From there, you just socialise. If you're there for something specific, you'll find others in the same boat; if you're just fancying a chat, that works too. It's as much about the travel and culture side of things as it is about the languages themselves.
This is just one part of what ELEC does across the city. On Saturday mornings they run cafe meetups for French, Italian, Spanish or English, and there are fortnightly Arabic meetups as well. They also have member-organised spot meetups that pop up when someone wants to get a specific group together. If you're keen to host a particular language yourself, you can become an event organiser by messaging them on Meetup.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Edinburgh and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

So, if you've been wanting to brush up on a language or just meet people from different backgrounds, this is a low-pressure way to do it. It's at BrewDog Edinburgh Lothian Road, 50 Lothian Road, starting at 19:00 this Wednesday.
