A special Fallen Angels Club night of traditional folk and modern acoustic music from Kris Drever and Cahalen Morrison at The Traverse Theatre.
Kris Drever and Cahalen Morrison play the Traverse Theatre on Wednesday 3 March, a Fallen Angels Club show that brings together two musicians from opposite sides of the Atlantic. It's just the two of them on stage—no support acts—so the whole night is built around their pairing.
They describe themselves as 'musician's musicians', and that's a fair place to start. Drever was raised in the Orkney Islands and is one third of the award-winning trio Lau, known for his warm voice, virtuosic guitar playing and imaginative songwriting. He's also worked with Kate Rusby, Karine Polwart, John McCusker and Eddie Reader. Morrison comes from the high desert of Northern New Mexico and is equally at home on guitar, banjo and mandolin, as well as a captivating singer and a poetic wordsmith. Over the last decade he's toured solo, as a duo with Eli West and with his roadhouse country band Western Centuries, and has shared stages with Tim O'Brien, Kelly Joe Phelps, Hot Rize and Crooked Still.
Between them, they draw on the traditions of Scotland and America, and the night sits at the intersection of traditional folk and modern acoustic music. Both were releasing new albums in 2026: Drever's Doing this for love and Morrison's The Rolling Thunder of The Sea, so there's fresh material from both of them to pull from. The show is presented by The Fallen Angels Club.
