Over-18s Halloween night of alternative 1980s music, from post-punk to new wave, with costumes encouraged.
Just Like Heaven is taking over La Belle Angele on Saturday 31 October for an alternative 80s night, and since it's Halloween, they're leaning into the mood. The whole evening is built around the alternative sounds of the decade: post-punk, new wave, and the indie classics that sat on the edges of the charts.
Throwback Events are on the decks, spinning a set that draws from the names that defined the era's underground. You'll hear The Cure, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Echo & The Bunnymen, New Order, Depeche Mode and The Smiths. It's a broad sweep of the 80s alternative scene, from the starker post-punk of the early years to the shimmering new wave and indie that followed.
They've framed the night as a journey into the shadows of the 1980s underground, dedicated to the sounds that spoke to the outsiders, dreamers and romantics of the time. Rather than just a party, they describe it as a time machine back to the heart of the alternative 80s. Halloween costumes are highly encouraged, so it's a good excuse to dig out something that fits the bill.
