Jazz concert by the Levi Harvey Trio, with pianist Levi Harvey and guests Cyril Drapé and Pierre-Eden Guilbaud, at the Institut français d'Écosse.
Levi Harvey brings his trio to the Institut français d'Écosse on Friday 6 November, with the concert starting at 19:00. He's joined on piano by Cyril Drapé and Pierre-Eden Guilbaud, so it's a full trio on the night.
Harvey is a 23-year-old Franco-British pianist who's coming through as one of the more interesting young voices in European jazz. He's a graduate of the CNSMDP jazz and improvised music programme in Paris, and he's already picked up the Chorus Lausanne International Jazz Piano Competition. He was also named a 2026 Talents Adami Jazz laureate, a musician whose playing sits at the crossroads of lyricism and improvisation. If you're into jazz that balances a melodic line with plenty of room to stretch out, that's a good place to start.
The gig is part of the '80 Years of the Institut français d'Écosse' festival, which runs from 2 to 7 November and marks eight decades of the cultural centre. The Institut is part of the wider Institut Français network, and the Edinburgh house has been promoting French language and culture across Scotland since 1946, with a programme that covers French courses, talks, live music, theatre, film screenings, library collections and children's activities. This concert falls right in the middle of that anniversary week.
