A raw, visceral Rambert dance production inspired by Russell T Davies' landmark series, exploring identity and connection against the backdrop of the 1980s AIDS crisis.
Rambert are bringing It's a Sin to the Festival Theatre from 8 to 12 June 2027, as part of the company's 2027 tour. It's a dance work that takes its title and its spark from Russell T Davies' landmark Channel 4 series, and it's directed and choreographed by Rambert's Artistic Director, Benoit Swan Pouffer.
Set in the heart of 1980s London, the piece follows Ritchie, Roscoe, Colin and Jill as they chase identity, connection and a life on their own terms against the backdrop of the unfolding AIDS crisis. It weaves past and present into a raw, visceral story told through movement, and it won the 2022 Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production. The Edinburgh run is one stop on a tour that also takes the show to Aviva Studios in Manchester and Sheffield Lyceum.
Behind the scenes, the production is presented by Rambert and Factory International, and co-produced with Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, Capital Theatres in Edinburgh, Sadler's Wells in London and Les ThéÒtres de la Ville in Luxembourg. Russell T Davies, the Pet Shop Boys and Glyn Fussell are executive producers on it, with Swan Pouffer directing and choreographing. It's recommended for ages 15 and over, with strong language and mature themes.
