Two-hour wine tasting of seven Italian wine and charcuterie pairings from the Edinburgh Local Wine School's 'World of Wine' series.
The Edinburgh Local Wine School is hosting an Italian charcuterie and wine pairing at the Novotel Edinburgh Centre on Friday 29 January 2027. It's part of their 'World of Wine' series, which takes a different wine country each week, and this one focuses on Italy.
Italy is a lot to take in if you're just starting out. With more than 1,000 indigenous grape varieties and a huge range of styles, it can be a confusing place to get your head around. The school presents it as the best example of a region making wine specifically designed to go with food, and that's exactly what the evening is built on. Over two hours, you'll work through seven combinations of Italian wine and charcuterie. Some of the pairings include Sangiovese with speck, Nebbiolo with bresaola, and Valpolicella Ripasso with prosciutto. If you need it, the session can be adapted to be gluten-free.
The tasting is run by the Edinburgh Local Wine School, part of the Local Wine School Network, which describes itself as the world's fastest-growing network of independent wine schools. They run fun, accessible courses at all levels alongside professional qualifications, and they've picked up a five-star TripAdvisor rating along the way, with features in the Daily Telegraph and Time Out Magazine.
