Beginner-friendly Irish language sessions for over-18s, hosted by Edinburgh Comhaltas on Irish Heritage Day.
Edinburgh Comhaltas are running Irish language classes at Malones Leith on Sunday 25 October, with a session starting at 11:15 that runs for about 45 minutes. It's a beginner-friendly setup, so you don't need any prior experience to join in. The focus is on useful Gaeilge phrases taught in a relaxed environment, and because each class covers different topics and phrases, you can either come along to every one or just drop in when it suits you. There's a second date on 29 November, too.
The classes are hosted by Edinburgh Comhaltas, an inclusive community that promotes Irish traditional music, song and dance alongside the language here in Edinburgh. They describe themselves as open to all ages, backgrounds and abilities, and these sessions follow on from the success of the first Irish language class they staged on Heritage Day. It's a low-pressure way to pick up some of the language without having to commit to a formal course, and since the focus is on practical phrases, you'll walk away with something you can actually use.

On the practical side, the classes are for over-18s only and are booked through Eventbrite. They run on a pay-what-you-can basis, though you'll need to book in advance. You'll find them at Malones Leith (the Mezze), 48-52 Constitution Street, Leith, Edinburgh EH6 6RS. The first one is Sunday 25 October at 11:15, and there's another on 29 November.
