Eight-week intermediate longform improvisation course for over-18s taught by Gregor of TBC Improv UK, with an optional graduation performance.
TBC Improv UK are running an intermediate longform improv course at Summerhall this winter, starting Wednesday 13 January. It's an eight-session course for over-18s, with classes running Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 9:00pm on 13, 20, and 27 January; 3, 10, 17, and 24 February; and 3 and 5 March. The whole thing takes place at the TBC UK Studio, EH9 1PL.
To get your bearings with how they do things, TBC Improv UK numbers its courses by level: the 100 series is introductory, the 200 series is intermediate, and the 300 series is advanced. The final digit tells you the class type — 101 is Intro to Improv, 103 is Intro to Longform, and so on. This is course 203, so it's an intermediate longform class. Because it's not a beginner's course, there are prerequisites: you'll need to have completed Intro to Improv 101, Intro to Longform 103, and Intermediate Improv 201 before you sign up.
Gregor is the one teaching this run. He's a professional classically trained actor who's studied, taught, and worked all over the UK, with a performance range that stretches from Shakespeare's protagonists to 'that background tree'. The course wraps up on Friday 5 March with an optional graduation performance, so there's a chance to get what you've been working on in front of an audience.
