One-day crash course led by journalist Julia Rampen on media strategy, press releases, interviews and social media for campaigners and founders.
Julia Rampen is running a one-day media training workshop at Duncan Place Community Hub on Friday 6 November, from 10:00. It's put on by Equinox Strategic Communications, the consultancy Rampen founded, and it's aimed at campaigners, start-up founders and organisation spokespersons.
The day is a crash course in getting your message across. You'll cover how to target audiences through both traditional and digital media, how to write press releases, and how to handle interviews. There's a focus on social media via smartphone too, with practical workshops on pitching, filming, photography and interviewing. You don't just listen and leave; you walk away with a media strategy plan, pitch drafts and social media templates you can actually use.
Rampen brings a fair bit of ground to it. She's an author, journalist, editor and communications professional who's written for The Liverpool Echo, The Mirror, The New Statesman, The Guardian and i News. She was Media Director of IMIX, a charity that provides media support to the refugee and asylum sector, and she worked for senior politicians in Holyrood during the 2024 and 2026 election campaigns. So she's seen the media from the newsroom side, the charity side and the political side.
