Late-night Hobbes Music dance night with DJ Gregory, Ricardo and Hobbes at The Bongo Club.
Hobbes Music and Noetic Rhythm are taking over The Bongo Club on Saturday 7 November, with DJ Gregory leading the bill. It's a two-room night, so there's a bit of choice depending on where you want to spend your time.
Room 1 is the main draw, with Gregory sharing the decks with Ricardo (The Get Down) and Hobbes. Gregory Darsa is one of France's most respected house DJs and producers, a figure who emerged from Paris's early-90s underground and became closely associated with the Africanism project. His production catalogue runs through Yellow Productions, Defected and Versatile, as well as his own Point G imprint; Elle remains one of his most enduring records, and Canoa, made with Gregor Salto, became a defining slice of his Afro-inflected house sound. Room 2 is an Open Decks Social Takeover, with the DJs still to be announced.
The night is part of the Hobbes Music series, which they describe as being built on the idea of bringing people together and elevating consciousness through a shared dance-floor experience of collective energy, connection and the unifying power of rhythm. It continues a lineage that has previously welcomed Crazy P, Etienne de Crécy, JD Twitch/Optimo, Yogi Haughton and many others. The Bongo Club, now three decades old, remains a home for Edinburgh's independently minded music community and houses a Danley Sound Labs system.
