Freshers Halloween party at The Liquid Room with 'The Purge Experience' immersive visuals and three mash-up sound worlds, with a Best Dressed award.
The Halloween Purge takes over The Liquid Room on Thursday 29 October, billed as Edinburgh's biggest Halloween event. It's set up as the city's official move-in party and a Freshers welcome-week experience, so it's aimed squarely at the new crowd settling into the city for the term.
The night is built around two main things. First there's 'The Purge Experience', which they describe as immersive chaos and eerie visuals. Then there's 'The Arena of Anarchy', three mash-up sound worlds running from House, Tech and Disco, through to sinister RnB and Hip Hop, and on to Cheese, Pop Classics and throwbacks. The whole thing is framed by a single rule: leave your inhibitions at the door. The masks come out, the rules go, and the city descends into what they call beautifully orchestrated madness.
They're encouraging everyone to turn up as sirens, rebels or villains, and there's a Best Dressed reward of exclusive VIP treatment plus a sinister surprise for the most terrifying look, so if you've got a costume you've been waiting to use, this is the night to bring it out. The Liquid Room itself is an independent live music venue and nightclub on Victoria Street in the Old Town, close to the Grassmarket and Cowgate, and it's been hosting live gigs, electronic music, club nights, DJ sets and touring artists since 1997.
