Monthly two-hour somatic workshop for women combining movement, breathwork, grounding and mindful awareness, part of The Surrender Series.
The Voice Within is at The Salisbury Centre on Thursday 19 November, from 6 to 8 pm. It's part of The Surrender Series, a monthly sequence of two-hour workshops for women, with a maximum group size of twelve. Each session brings together somatic movement, breathwork, grounding and mindful awareness, with optional vocal and tonal exploration on the side. It's trauma-informed and consent-based, and the organiser is clear that it's not a singing class.
The series was created by Cori, who has worked in the social sector for over twenty years and currently practises as a social worker in community justice. She developed the work in 2022, with the first courses running in 2023, following her own journey through trauma, chronic stress and healing. A revised version, more inclusive and diversity-aware, launched in January 2026.
Her approach draws on the work of Bessel van der Kolk, Peter Levine, Stephen Porges, Arielle Schwartz, Paul Gilbert, David Treleaven and Tara Brach, weaving together nervous system theory, somatic practices, mindfulness and compassion-focused approaches. After each session, participants are offered an optional WhatsApp group and resources to take home, and during the warmer, drier months, a fire ceremony may be held in the garden.
