Hands-on workshop led by florist and Royal Warrant-holder Lottie Longman to make a festive wreath from seasonal foliage at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Lottie Longman is leading a festive wreath-making workshop at The Palace of Holyroodhouse on Thursday 10 December, one of the family workshops and hands-on activities the Palace runs throughout the season. Longman is a florist and Royal Warrant-holder, and she'll be walking everyone through the process of making their own wreath from scratch.
The session starts with a bit of inspiration: you'll first have a look at the Palace's own Christmas decorations before you get stuck in, learning how to fashion fresh seasonal foliage into a unique design to take home. It's a proper make-and-take, so you'll leave with something you've actually put together yourself.
It's worth remembering the setting you're in. At Christmas, the Palace transforms into a festive wonderland with displays you'll only find in a royal residence: the Throne Room holds two twelve-foot Christmas trees, and the Great Gallery has a fifteen-foot Nordmann Fir. The workshop is held in the Abbey Strand Centre, within the Palace grounds at Canongate, Edinburgh EH8 8DX.

There are two sessions to choose from: 10:00–12:30 or 14:00–16:30, and booking is essential. Tickets are £75 for adults, and all the materials and equipment are supplied, so you don't need to bring a thing. One extra that's worth noting: you can convert your ticket into a 1-Year Pass for free re-admission to the Palace for a year, which is a handy bonus if you're planning on heading back.
