Edinburgh Clay, Crafts, and Cold Pints

Edinburgh Clay, Crafts, and Cold Pints is happening at 20 Kenmure Ave on Sunday 1 November, a clay and crafts workshop run by the Pottery and Pints Social Clay Club. It's hosted by David H., and the whole thing is set up as a relaxed, low-pressure social space for anyone from experienced potters to complete beginners. The idea is simple: you work on your own project, share techniques, and meet people from the Edinburgh community over a drink at a local pub.

Because it's a social club rather than a formal class, there's no set curriculum to follow. You bring your own project and work on it at your own pace, and if you get stuck or just want to see how someone else is doing things, you can swap tips and techniques with the people around you. It's as much about the chatting and the people as it is about the making, so if you've never touched clay before, you're just as welcome as someone who's been potting for years. The low-pressure side of it is the point—there's no one hovering over your shoulder, and no one's expecting a masterpiece by the end of the session.

The 'cold pints' part of the title isn't just for show, either. The session takes place at a local pub, so you can keep a drink in hand while you work. It's a clay workshop in a pub, which puts it in a different category from a quiet studio or a structured class—it's more of a social get-together that happens to involve making things. Between the crafting and the drinks, it's a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon if you fancy doing something with your hands and meeting a few new faces from around the city.
