Tutored wine dinner led by winemaker Jean Lupatelli from Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, with a four-course menu by chef Martin Wishart.
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is coming to Restaurant Martin Wishart on Monday 2 November, with the estate's winemaker, Jean Lupatelli, travelling from Burgundy to Edinburgh to lead the evening. It's a tutored wine dinner, so Lupatelli will be there in person to talk through the wines as they're poured, rather than just leaving the bottles to do the work.
The pairing runs through the domaine's stable of Grand Crus, starting with the Musigny Blanc 2022, then moving into the reds: Chambolle-Musigny 2022, Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2022, and Musigny Grand Cru 2022. The night finishes on a high with a magnum of Musigny Grand Cru 1985, a bottle from forty years ago that should be the real highlight of the evening. It's a rare chance to taste four different Grand Crus from the same estate in one sitting, with a proper veteran of a bottle to round it off.
Running alongside the wine is a four-course menu by chef Martin Wishart, so the pairings are matched to the food. The tutored side of things means Lupatelli will be guiding the room through the flight, talking about the wines as you go. If you've ever wanted to get a better handle on Burgundy's Grand Crus without having to fly to France, this is a good way to do it.
