Hands-on workshop to make a mini leather satchel with a Harris Tweed lid, sold as a gift voucher for two people.
The Islander Workshop on East Market Street is running a mini leather satchel making session for two, where you spend an hour stitching together your own small bag from real leather and Harris Tweed® cloth. It's a hands-on thing rather than a demo: you pick the colour of the leather body, a Harris Tweed® cloth lid, and a strap, then stitch it all together by hand under the guidance of an experienced professional. The session takes about an hour, and you leave with the finished piece.
There's a bit of a story behind the workshop, too. The Islander Workshop focuses on preserving and celebrating the Harris Tweed heritage of the Outer Hebrides through traditional craft, and they support family-focused social causes through partnerships like their Barnardo's workshop experience. So, the bag you make comes from a place that's about keeping a specific kind of weaving tradition alive.

One practical thing to keep in mind is how you book. It's sold as a gift voucher rather than a dated event, and the recipient books their own date within 12 months of purchase. The workshop runs seven days a week across five UK locations, so it's easy to fit in whenever suits you best. The cost is £115, and the session is for two people.
