CPD seminar reviewing contract law in Scotland, covering major court decisions and statutory developments, presented by Laura Macgregor and Lorna Richardson.
Contract Law Update 2026 is coming to The University of Edinburgh on Wednesday 28 October, a two-hour session that runs from 12:00 to 14:00. It's being run by Edinburgh Law Seminars, in association with Edinburgh Law School, and it's presented by Laura Macgregor and Lorna Richardson.
The session is a review of contract law over the last year, and it doesn't just stick to one jurisdiction. It covers all the major Scottish court decisions from 2025 and 2026, alongside significant English cases that have an impact on Scots law. It also looks at important statutory developments and upcoming legal reforms, with a particular focus on formation, interpretation, the implication of terms, and remedies for breach. If you've spent the last twelve months working in the field and want to see how the latest rulings fit together, this is exactly that: a year's worth of changes brought into one room.
There's a bit of a story behind the organisers, too. Edinburgh Law Seminars have been running CPD seminars for legal professionals for over 30 years, traditionally face to face across Scotland and by video link for those further afield. They're a wholly-owned trading subsidiary of the Edinburgh Legal Education Trust (ELET), a charity set up by academics within the University of Edinburgh's Law School to support legal education in Scotland, with a special focus on Scots Law. The profits from the seminars go back to ELET, which funds students completing doctorates, the publication of Scottish legal texts, academic conferences, and the Edinburgh University Law Library. So, the ticket does a bit more than just get you into the room.
