Weekly Friday and Saturday night of cheese, pop and chart music from the resident DJ at the late-night bar SlĂ inte Mhath.
Cheese Pop & Charts is on at Slà inte Mhath tonight, Friday 23 October, with the resident DJ taking over from 8pm until close. It's a mix of cheese, pop and chart music, so it's the kind of night that leans on the familiar rather than the obscure — the sort of set where you'll recognise most of the tracks and probably know the words to a good few of them.
If you haven't been, Slà inte Mhath is a modern Scottish late bar in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town, serving craft drinks and cocktails. The name comes from the traditional Scottish Gaelic toast meaning 'good health', and the place runs on the motto Ceol, Craic, Chaos — music, good times and chaos — which tells you as much about the spirit of the place as anything else. It's not just the weekend club nights, either: the bar also does karaoke, live music every Thursday and weekly quiz nights, so there's usually something on throughout the week.

The DJ starts at 8pm and keeps going until the venue closes, and since the bar stays open from 3pm right through to 3am, you can roll in whenever suits you. It's a free event, so there's no ticket to sort in advance — just turn up when you're ready. You'll find it at 143 Cowgate, Edinburgh Old Town EH1 1JS.
