Storyteller Mark Steadward explores Scottish myth and legend and the Celtic beasts of its imagination, suitable for ages 15 and over.
Mark Steadward brings Celtic Beasts and Where to Find Them to Cornerstone St John's on Saturday 31 October, a storytelling hour that fits the date and the season. The show is part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival, run by TRACS (Traditional Arts and Culture Scotland), whose theme this year is 'Bird & Beast'.
Steadward takes the audience through the wild, untamed landscape of Scottish myth and legend in search of the Celtic beasts that have inhabited the imagination for centuries. It's a night of storytelling rather than a lecture, with the focus on the creatures themselves and the folklore they come from. The title is a nod to the familiar, but the material is rooted in the old stories of the land.
Because it's part of the festival, it's one of many storytelling events running across the city that autumn, and this one sits right at the end of the month. The show is suitable for ages 15 and over, so it's not one for the very young. There's a bring-your-own-bottle policy for over-18s, and plastic cups are provided on the night.
