Monthly stand-up show hosted by Jay Lafferty, with a different selection of Scotland's comics and a new theme each month.
Bona Fide returns to The Stand Comedy Club on Thursday 22 October, one of the club's long-running cult nights. It's been ten years since it started, and it's billed as 'a comedy show with a difference'. The regular host, Jay Lafferty, invites a selection of Scotland's comics to prove their worth on the night, and the show changes line-ups and themes every month with new guests each time. For this one, the comics will be performing material written specifically for the night's theme.
That's the core of it: the theme changes every month, and the comics have to write to it. It's not a standard best-of set, so you're hearing material that's been pulled together for the occasion rather than the same polished routines they might be taking around the circuit. The line-up shifts every time, too, so it's a different bunch of faces on the bill each month.
Over the years, the show has pulled in a fair few names. Previous guests have included Susie McCabe, Danny Bhoy, Daniel Sloss, Krystal Evans, MC Hammersmith, Christopher MacArthur Boyd and Marjoleine Robertson. It runs monthly at The Stand's Glasgow and Edinburgh venues, so if you're around either city, there's usually a date nearby.

Doors open at 19:00, and the performance runs from 20:00 to 21:40, so it's a good hundred minutes of comedy. The Stand is at 5 York Place, EH1 3EB, and the show is for over-18s only.
