Six-hour genre-free dance club night with disco, boogie, Brazilian sounds and obscure house by DJs Euan Fryer and Lel Palfrey.
Athens of the North Disco Club takes over Sneaky Pete's on Saturday 7 November, with the label's club night brought to the floor by its owners, curators and DJs Euan Fryer and Lel Palfrey. It's a six-hour, genre-free dance session that they steer themselves, and the bill is a double-header with both of them on the decks throughout the night.
The music is where the "genre-free" part comes in. They describe the set as ranging from disco and boogie to Brazilian sounds and obscure house, so it's less about sticking to one sound and more about moving between them over the course of the evening. If you've followed the label, that's the territory they usually inhabit—digging into disco and house and pulling in things from further afield, like those Brazilian rhythms, rather than staying in one lane. With six hours to work with, they've got plenty of room to let the different moods sit side by side.
Sneaky Pete's bills the night as a total roadblock, which fits the way it's set up: two people, one long session, and a wide-open record bag. It's a night run by the people who run the label, so the music is exactly what they want to hear.
