Queer speed friending and dating night with five rounds of five-minute matches, a low-pressure way to meet in person at Fir Espresso Bar.
Slow Burn Dynamite are hosting their first queer connections event at Fir Espresso Bar on Friday 30 October, a Halloween edition of queer speed friending and dating. It's run by Jess and Celina and aimed at girls, gays and theys who want to move away from dating apps and meet in person. They describe it as very queer and neurospicy friendly, open to bi, queer, demi, pan, cis, non-binary and trans folks, and pitched as a low-pressure way to build community.
The night is structured to keep things moving without feeling rushed. It starts with a warm-up mingle to settle in, followed by five rounds of five-minute one-to-one matches that the organisers handpick for you. After that comes a collective breather, then fate-drawn matches, and finally a closing mingle. Before you go, you'll fill out a short matchmaking questionnaire, and name tags on the night show whether you're open to friendship, dating or both, so you know where you stand before you start talking.
