Reggaeton pioneer Yandel performs his Sinfonico tour, blending urban sounds with orchestral arrangements at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
Yandel plays Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Sunday, November 1, for a symphonic concert. It's a different setup than his usual shows: he'll be backed by an orchestra, so the reggaeton he's known for gets a full orchestral arrangement. The music blends reggaeton with urban pop, Latin hip-hop and dancehall, and this night puts those sounds in a symphonic frame.
If you're not familiar with the name, Yandel, born Llandel Veguilla Malavé in Cayey, Puerto Rico, is a reggaeton pioneer. He first made his mark as one half of the duo Wisin & Yandel, one of the most recognizable names in the genre, before building a solo following with songs like "Encantadora" and "Como Es Que Se Hace." His work has always sat at the intersection of reggaeton and urban pop, and that's the same sound he's bringing to the stage here, just with an orchestra behind him instead of a standard band.
