20th anniversary of the Colorado New Play Summit with four staged readings and two world premiere productions by the Denver Center Theatre Company.
The Colorado New Play Summit returns to the Helen Bonfils Theatre Complex on February 14 and 15, 2027, and this time it's a big one: the summit's 20th anniversary. If you've been around the Denver theater scene for a while, you know the drill. This is the Denver Center Theatre Company's annual gathering where new plays are shaped in real time before a live audience. It's billed as local theater's premiere event, and over two decades it's grown into a hub for industry leaders and artists from more than 20 states—playwrights, directors, actors, dramaturgs, and agents all in one place.
Across more than 40 years, the Theatre Company has produced over 400 plays from scratch, and many of them started as a reading right here at the summit. The 2027 edition is a tribute to those twenty years of innovation and discovery, and the lineup reflects that. There are four staged readings: Influent by Isaac GĂłmez, Lemuria, The Myth of the Two Marcos, and You Should Be So Lucky. On top of those, two world premieres get their own nights: Cowboys and East Indians runs Saturday, Feb 14, at 8 PM in the Singleton Theatre, and Godspeed follows on Sunday, Feb 15, at 8 PM in the Kilstrom Theatre.
