Tank and The Bangas play the Gothic Theatre in Denver on their fall tour behind 'The Last Balloon,' with support from Ariel J.
Tank and The Bangas play the Gothic Theatre on Saturday, November 7, as part of their fall tour behind The Last Balloon. They're bringing Ariel J. along to open the night.
If you've been following them for a while, you know the new record is the third part of a trilogy. It started with Green Balloon in 2019, continued with Red Balloon in 2022, and The Last Balloon closes it out. The album was recorded at The Complex Studios in Los Angeles and executive-produced by Austin Brown, with guests Iman Omari, Tane Runo, Ledisi, and Jelly Joseph appearing across the tracks. The show is built around that material, so you'll hear the new songs live.
The band has grown since they first broke through in 2017, when they won the NPR Music Tiny Desk Contest. More recently, they took home a 2024 Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album for The Heart, The Mind, The Soul, a three-part project. That Grammy win came from the spoken word side of things, but the live band is a full ensemble. Around Tarriona 'Tank' Ball and Norman Spencer II, the lineup now includes Deven Trusclair on drums, Kenaniah Turner on bass, Rob Kellner on keys, and Etienne Stoufflet on saxophone.
