Banjo music festival with old-time and bluegrass acts including Sam Bush, Mark O'Connor, The Milk Carton Kids and Kaia Kater at Swallow Hill Music.
Swallow Hill Music is hosting Swallow Hill BanjoFest on Saturday, November 14, 2026, a full day of banjo music in Denver. The lineup brings together players from across the bluegrass and folk traditions, with Kaia Kater taking a central spot alongside Sam Bush, The Milk Carton Kids, and Mark O'Connor. There's also a set from Allison de Groot & Nic Gareiss.
Kaia Kater is an old-time banjo player whose work has drawn attention from Rolling Stone, CBC Music, and The Roots Music Report. Born in Montreal, she's lived in Winnipeg, Wakefield, and more recently West Virginia, and now resides in Toronto. Critics describe her as sounding new and old at once, anchoring her music where tradition and innovation intersect. Her repertoire spans Americana, old-time, traditional folk, and indie folk, so her set pulls from a few different corners of the acoustic world.
Around her, the rest of the BanjoFest lineup leans into bluegrass and folk. Sam Bush is a mainstay of the bluegrass scene, and The Milk Carton Kids are known for their tight, folk-driven harmonies. Mark O'Connor brings his fiddle and bluegrass pedigree to the mix. Between them, the day covers a fair amount of ground within the folk and bluegrass family, from old-time banjo to the more polished sounds of contemporary folk.
