Monthly guided program in which visitors slow down to look closely at a single work of art, Didier William's 'Cheval'.
Mindful Looking is back at the Denver Art Museum on Tuesday, November 17, for its monthly session. It's a guided program that asks you to do something we rarely do in a museum: slow down and spend time with a single work of art, rather than drifting from one piece to the next. The museum describes it as a way to discover overlooked details and to let the artwork return the gaze.
This session focuses on Cheval: the Other Side of the Mirror is Home by Didier William. The program runs about 45 minutes, and the focus stays on that one piece for the duration. If you're used to the usual museum pace—scanning a room and moving on—this is a different way of looking. It's more about what happens when you stop moving and let a single image hold your attention.
Mindful Looking happens on the third Tuesday of every month, so if you can't make this one, there's another session coming around soon. For those who can't make it in person, the museum also offers an online version of the program.
