Queer-led weekend festival of Klezmer music, Yiddish culture, workshops, dancing and family-friendly activities at the Mizel Arts and Culture Center.
KlezKolorado returns to the Mizel Arts and Culture Center from October 23 to 25, with opening night on Friday, October 23, and the closing night on Sunday, October 25. It's a queer-led, queer-centered weekend dedicated to Klezmer music, Yiddish culture, creativity, and Jewish community here in Denver, and it centers both local and nationally recognized Klezmer artists.
The festival fills the days with concerts, workshops, participatory music sessions, dancing, food, and family-friendly activities. It's as much about doing as it is about listening—the workshops and music sessions mean you can get involved rather than just sitting in a seat. The organizers describe it as a celebration of Yiddish culture and Jewish community, and they're committed to fostering an inclusive environment.
The home for the weekend is the Mizel Arts and Culture Center at the JCC Denver, at 350 Dahlia St. The center presents creative and cultural programs in the performing, visual, and literary arts for the Jewish community and the wider public, serving nearly 100,000 people a year as a performance and exhibition venue and an educational resource for people at every stage of life.
